Steinberger Construction Management
In 2009, owners Jim Steinberger, Tom Steinberger, and Ken Personett began an ownership transition to team members Joe Zinsmeister, Matt Lewellen, and Becky Pencek, who will eventually take over as the "fourth generation" of owners.
Tom Steinberger, President Tom Steinberger has served in many capacities in his 30 years at SCI. He has been a laborer, carpenter, millwright, operator, project manager, and operations manager, and vice president of sales. He is very active in the community, serving on the Cass County Planning Commission, Logan Savings Bank board of directors, Cass County Izaak Walton League and the Elks.
Ken Personett, VP, Business Development Ken Personett has been at Steinberger Construction since 1978 and has held many positions throughout the company. He has been a laborer, carpenter, supervisor, operations manager, and estimator. He is currently responsible for the company’s business development. He is very active with Associated Builders and Contractors, Monticello Kiwanis, Boy Scouts and the United Way.
Jim Steinberger, CEO Jim Steinberger served as President of SCI from 1985 to 2009. Prior to that, he also served as operations manager and field supervisor. He studied civil engineering and building construction at Purdue University. He is involved in multiple community and industry organizations, including serving on the state board of Associated Builders and Contractors.
Matt Lewellen , VP of Operations Matt Lewellen worked as a project manager for five years before moving into the VP of Operations position. He majored in marketing and business management at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. His industry affiliations include the Indiana Metal Building Association, the American Concrete Institute, and the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, focusing on green building.
Joe Zinsmeister, Estimator Joe Zinsmeister has been with SCI since 1992, starting in the field as a laborer, moving quickly into supervision and then into estimating. He has a bachelor’s degree in building construction technology from Purdue University. He is active in the Greater Lafayette Area Safety Council (GLASC), as well as in the Logansport Lions Club and the Izaak Walton League.
Becky Pencek , Controller Becky Pencek has served as controller for SCI since 1995. Her functions include overseeing all payroll, receivables, payables, financial reporting, and tax returns. She also administers the company 401(k) plan and oversees all IT functions. She has an accounting degree from International Business College. She is active in youth sports and is Treasurer for the Lewis Cass Softball Parents Association.
