Steinberger Construction was founded in 1945 by Roger Steinberger. Roger got his background as a Project Manager for the construction of military bases during World War II. He used his experience to start Steinberger Construction immediately after the war. Roger began with small remodeling projects and soon branched into new home construction. By 1949, Steinberger typically had 3 or 4 homes under construction at any one time.
Roger's son Jack grew up in the business. After serving in the Air Force, he began projects at nearby Grissom Air Force Base. The company shifted from new home construction into industrial and commercial construction. In the 60's, Steinberger was on the forefront of pre-engineered and pre-fabricated steel structure technology, and pre-engineered buildings are still an important part of the company's business.
Under Jack's innovative leadership, the company developed the first business park in the community, built a new company headquarters, and was involved in many noteworthy projects, including the Cass County Court House and Jail, Four County Mental Health Center and Bunge Corporation.
Jack's sons Jim and Tom grew up in the business. In 1984, along with co-worker Ken Personett, they purchased the company. The company targeted larger projects and an increased range of operation, concentrating in North Central Indiana. A great deal of the company's business has been for private sector industry.
In 2000, the company constructed new state-of-the-art headquarters which houses offices, training facilities, fabrication shop, maintenance garage, warehouse and equipment storage yard. The company is an industry leader in safety with many award-winning projects to its credit. Our team of experienced project managers, estimators, supervisors and crew bring our clients the best service, quality and reliability in the business.
