History Steinberger Construction was founded in 1945 by Roger Steinberger. Roger got his background as a Project Manager for the construction of military bases during World War II. Roger began with small remodeling projects and soon branched into new home construction. Roger’s son Jack grew up in the business. In the 1960’s after serving in the Air Force, he began projects at nearby Grissom Air Force Base. The company shifted from new home construction into industrial and commercial construction. In 1984, along with co-worker Ken Personett, Jack’s sons Jim and Tom purchased the company. The company targeted larger projects and an increased range of operation, concentrating in North Central Indiana. A great deal of the company’s business has been for private sector industry. In 2009, the company implemented a long-term succession plan involving members of the company’s management Team. Matt Lewellen, Becky Pencek, Ben Thompson and Joe Zinsmeister joined the ownership team as the 4th generation of owners of the 70 year old business.
