Construction manager Edwards Rigdon called on Steinberger to construct the new concrete vault to house the Linear Accelerator equipment for radiation therapy. The heavy concrete roof and walls are required to contain the radiation. This project required cast in place concrete pilings to support the structure and heavily reinforced, thick concrete floor, roof and walls. The concrete roof deck was even covered with a layer of lead bricks for further containment.
