Safety

Love Tomorrow… Live Healthy & Safe Today

Steinberger Construction, Inc. begins each year with one goal in mind – to complete the year with zero injuries. We believe that our team members are our number one asset, and that is why we put Safety First! At Steinberger, we have been able to instill our belief for safety into each of our team members. We are able to continue to be recognized as a safety leader within the construction industry due to the safety culture that has been created by our team. This culture has led to a partnership with IOSHA through the Coalition for Construction Safety, which recognizes the safest contractors in the construction industry across the state of Indiana.

We are committed to sustaining a safe work environment for all our team members on every jobsite. Our goal every day is to return our team members home to their families, friends, and communities harm free. To accomplish this goal, we focus on total worker health and safety through the following practices:

Sustain a Drug Free Workplace:

All team members are expected to report to work sober, drug free, rested and alert. All team members are required to complete a drug screen prior to being hired, at random, upon reasonable suspicion, and when involved in an accident or unsafe incident.

Focus on Jobsite Housekeeping:

We believe that excellent jobsite housekeeping is the foundation for a safe jobsite. Every jobsite establishes and institutes a site-specific management plan to ensure the most safe and efficient procedures are being followed by each member of our team.

Eliminate Jobsite Hazards:

We strive to eliminate all job site hazards in order to provide the safest work environment for our team members. All team members complete weekly Job Hazard Analyses, Daily Safety Inspections, Daily Equipment Inspections, and task specific safety plans in order to identify and eliminate jobsite hazards. A morning Stretch and Flex routine is incorporated daily to help prevent any ergonomic hazards that may arise.

Implement Training:

All hourly team members complete OSHA 10 hour, and all salary superintendents and managers receive OSHA 30 hour training a minimum of every five years. All SCI team members also receive American Red Cross First Aid and CPR training every two years. Additional training for all team members includes:

  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Trenching and Excavation Safety
  • Fall Protection Safety
  • Electrical Safety
  • LOTO Procedures
  • Scaffold Erection and Safety
  • Accident Investigation
  • Equipment Operation
  • Hazardous Material Safety
