Our Commitment to

Safety

At SCI, safety isn’t just a policy, it’s a promise. We hold ourselves to the highest standards, enabling our team to do their best work with confidence and peace of mind. Here’s what you can expect when you work on our job sites:

Drug-Free Workplace

All employees are required to report to work sober, alert, and well-rested. Pre-employment drug screening is mandatory, with ongoing random testing, post-incident testing, and testing upon reasonable suspicion.

Clean worksites are safe worksites. Every project begins with a customized job site management plan to maintain tidy, organized, and hazard-free work areas.

We don’t just respond to hazards, we prevent them. Daily safety inspections, equipment checks, task-specific safety plans, and weekly Job Hazard Analyses are standard practice. We also start each day with a Stretch & Flex routine to reduce ergonomic risks.

Every team member receives OSHA and American Red Cross certifications and participates in continuous safety education to stay sharp, aware, and protected:

  • OSHA 10-Hour (Hourly Team Members)
  • OSHA 30-Hour (Managers/Superintendents, every five years)
  • First Aid & CPR (Renewed every two years)
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Trenching & Excavation Safety
  • Fall Protection
  • Electrical & LOTO Safety
  • Scaffold Erection & Use
  • Accident Investigation
  • Equipment Operation
  • Hazardous Materials

At SCI, safety is how we protect the people who make our work possible, and it’s how we honor the legacy we’re building together.

A

Work Culture

Built

A Work Culture Built

On Connection

At SCI, our work culture is built on connection, whether we’re on a job site or gathering as a team. Because our work is spread across many locations, we intentionally plan events that bring everyone together. From our annual bowling night in the winter to a summer day at Indiana Beach, we create opportunities for employees and their families to engage beyond the job. We host wellness challenges and volunteer efforts, such as Earth Day cleanups, and support local orchards with seasonal gift cards. Additionally, we gather each June for a company-wide Wellness Summit, focusing on safety, education, and recognition. These events aren’t just fun, they help new hires feel welcomed and keep our team strong, no matter where they’re working.

We value transparency and accessibility at every level of the company. Our open-door policy invites open communication between job sites and the home office, and our president remains actively involved and approachable. We also prioritize recognizing the dedication of our people, from celebrating birthdays and “Steinbergerversaries” to honoring milestone anniversaries with personalized gifts and public recognition during our holiday party. We believe that when you invest in people, you build more than buildings; you build loyalty, legacy, and a culture that lasts.
