About Us

A Legacy of Excellence in Industrial Construction

Steinberger Construction (SCI) is a fourth-generation industrial contractor based in North Central Indiana, proudly serving our clients since 1945. We specialize in design-build solutions for heavy industrial facilities, with a focus on new construction and remodeling services across Indiana and the surrounding states. Our expertise includes large-scale concrete equipment foundations, deep pits, and slabs on grade. Our in-house service department is equipped to handle maintenance and urgent repair.

Beyond the job site, we’re deeply committed to the communities in which we live and work, giving our time, talents, and resources to causes that make a lasting difference. With every project and every initiative, SCI remains focused on delivering high-quality work while positively impacting the communities we serve.

Our Mission

At SCI, our mission is to provide clients with hassle-free design and construction services, ensure a safe and healthy workplace for our team members, and employ sustainable building practices that protect our clients, team, and the environment. Through every project, we aim to deliver quality results that build trust and lasting relationships.

Our Culture

Building the Future Together

At Steinberger Construction, our culture is rooted in people because we know our team is our greatest asset. From how we prioritize safety to how we show up for each other during the holidays, everything we do is intentional, personal, and built to last. We’re not just here to build structures; we’re here to build relationships, communities, and legacies.

Safety is at the heart of our company. It’s not just a checklist; it’s a shared responsibility embraced by every team member. That commitment has earned us recognition as a safety leader across Indiana, including a voluntary partnership with IOSHA through the Coalition for Construction Safety, multiple ABC Awards, and the Governor’s Workplace Safety Award. We’ve also been named one of Indiana’s Best Places to Work, because we don’t just talk about culture, we live it.

Our people stay. Nearly a third of our team has been with us for over a decade, and that longevity shows in the pride and precision we bring to every job. We don’t chase every project; we focus on the right fit, and we build long-term partnerships by being honest, responsive, and fully committed from day one.

At SCI, everyone matters. From project development to follow-up, we treat our clients and each other like family. That’s the kind of culture and legacy we’re proud to build—together.

Our Safety

Indiana’s Safety
Leader in Construction

At SCI, safety isn’t just a policy; it’s a core part of who we are. Every year, we start with one goal in mind: zero injuries. Our people are our most valuable asset, and their health, well-being, and safety come first every single day. Our commitment to safety runs deep. Over the years, we’ve built a strong safety culture that’s not only embraced by every team member but also recognized across the construction industry. Thanks to the dedication of our crews and leadership, Steinberger Construction is proud to be a safety leader in the state of Indiana.

We’ve earned this reputation in part through our partnership with IOSHA, supported by the Coalition for Construction Safety, an initiative that highlights the safest contractors throughout Indiana. Being part of this elite group is a direct result of our team’s ongoing commitment to excellence on every job site.

We take a comprehensive, proactive approach to health and safety. Learn more about how we protect our team and ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of each day.

Recognition

Award-Winning Work.
Industry-Leading Standards.

SCI has been recognized for its commitment to safety and excellence in the construction industry. In 2018, SCI received the Education & Outreach – Internal award from the Indiana Department of Labor for developing an on-the-job training program that integrated safety training, resulting in over 4,000 documented training hours and a decrease in close-call incidents among less experienced staff. Additionally, SCI has been honored with the Award of Excellence in Construction by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky for multiple projects. In 2025, SCI received its sixth consecutive designation as one of only 150 companies to be named as a “Best Place to Work in Indiana” by the Indiana Chamber. These accolades reflect SCI’s dedication to maintaining high standards in project execution, workplace safety, and company culture and benefits.

Our History

1945

SCI has a rich history spanning over seven decades. Founded in 1945 by Roger Steinberger, who managed military base construction during World War II, the company initially focused on small remodeling projects before expanding into new home construction.

In the 1960s, after serving in the Air Force, Roger's son Jack joined the business and led projects at Grissom Air Force Base, steering the company toward industrial and commercial construction.

The next significant transition occurred in 1984 when Jack's sons, Jim and Tom, along with co-worker Ken Personett, acquired the company, targeting larger projects across North Central Indiana, primarily in the private sector.
