Tate & Lyle

Agriculture / Food, Energy | Ongoing Multi-Phase Program

Project

Overview

Steinberger Construction has served as a trusted partner to Tate & Lyle in Lafayette, Indiana, executing a series of ongoing capital improvement projects across the client’s large-scale production facility. Each initiative has been carefully designed and delivered to enhance performance, durability, and safety in one of the most demanding industrial environments.

What began as a detailed inspection and cataloging of over 100 exterior doors evolved into a comprehensive door replacement program aimed at improving operational efficiency and plant security. From there, Steinberger expanded the scope to include specialty siding replacements—selected for their resistance to extreme weather, chemical exposure, and operational wear.

The collaboration also included major concrete upgrades, such as the installation of machine-specific foundations and heavy-duty roadways built to withstand constant forklift and semi-truck traffic. Building additions were seamlessly integrated to provide expanded capacity without interrupting the facility’s 24/7 production schedule.

Safety

First

Operating within a live manufacturing environment demands strict adherence to plant-specific safety protocols. Steinberger’s crews worked under lockout/tagout procedures, coordinated around active lines, and maintained rigorous safety planning throughout each phase. Our ability to self-perform core trades allowed tighter oversight and immediate response to changing site conditions.

Built For

Performance

A key component of the work has been the design and installation of structural and crane steel within active process areas. These custom-fabricated steel systems were tailored to integrate into existing infrastructure—supporting overhead equipment and lifting operations with minimal disruption.

All systems were engineered for heavy-duty use, environmental resistance, and long-term maintenance access. From door hardware to load-bearing concrete, every detail was specified to meet industrial performance standards and production continuity requirements.

Partnership

In Action

The ongoing success of these projects highlights Steinberger’s deep understanding of operationally intensive environments and our ability to adapt around them. Tate & Lyle has entrusted us with critical infrastructure improvements because of our consistent communication, ability to manage complexity, and track record of on-time, high-quality delivery. This partnership reflects Steinberger Construction’s role as a long-term solution provider for large-scale industrial clients.
